My darling son Joshua
What can I say
I am speechless
But I want to talk to you
Every minute of the day 

There is no other pain
I have ever felt
That can compare
To this loss I have been dealt
Your face is all I can see
Every hour of the day
And when I sleep
It stays that way 

I hear your voice
And I felt your touch
You told me on the night
you went away
“Mum it’s me, and I’m okay
I’m here now and I have to stay”. 

I will always ask why
Why did you go?
On that Saturday morning
Only God and you know
He’s using you Josh
To change our lives
And show us what matters
So all is not lost 

You were rare my boy
There are not many like you
You wore your heart on your sleeve
That is why I still cannot believe
But god knew what he had to do
He called you home
On that fateful day
I know that you are still with us
Leading the way. 

When I looked in your eyes
While you were lying there
I thought I would be scared
But you gave me a strength
Only you and I shared
I knew in my heart that
You had already left
But I never gave up
Because I thought you would be spared. 

Thank-you my son
For giving me time
To hold you and kiss you
Though there is no reason or rhyme
I cried and I prayed for another way
I wanted to hold you in my arms
And just hear you say
“I love you mum, and goodnight “
just one more time. 

I love you Josh
And I always will
Please give me strength to carry on
My journey without you has just begun
But I can still hear you saying
“I gotta run “
